Eligibility Crieria
To be eligible for the Simmons University Kotzen Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Apply as a freshman for the fall semester
• Submit standardized test scores: ACT score of 28 or higher, SAT score of 1300 or higher (new SAT) or 1250 or higher (old SAT – CR+M)
• Complete a college preparatory curriculum, including an advanced level math course during or prior to their senior year of high school
• Maintain a GPA of 3.3 or higher, unweighted
• Have a record of taking honors, advanced placement (AP), and international baccalaureate (IB) courses, as available in their high school systems
• For non•native English speakers, submit TOEFL and SAT or ACT scores
Application Process
To apply for the Simmons University Kotzen Scholarship, students must complete the following steps:
1. Complete and submit both the scholarship application and the admission application to the College by December 1, 2024.
2. Submit a formal essay (no more than 300•500 words) describing their leadership style and experiences that have shaped them as a leader, as well as their vision for the kind of leader they aspire to become at Simmons University.
3. Submit a resume in Word format via email to ugadm@simmons.edu with the subject line "Simmons Distinguished Scholar Award application" by December 1, 2024.
4. Finalists chosen for scholarship consideration will be required to complete an on•campus interview in February. International applicants unable to visit the campus may have a Skype interview instead.
